EXPERIENCE

During attendance at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte , Mr. Ball worked to finance his education and to gain engineering experience. From May 1997 to August 1998, he was assistant to the Resident Engineer at the North Carolina Department of Transportation. There he worked with engineers and project inspectors on the design and construction of roads, bridges and signalization systems.

In January 1999 Mr. Ball joined Johnson Electric Company. Working mostly as a commercial/industrial electrician, he acquired valuable experience in designing and providing electrical service to large industrial facilities. Other tasks included performing load calculations, investigating power quality issues, project estimating, and facility lighting layout. After graduation, Mr. Ball continued to work for Johnson Electric, while taking graduate-level evening courses in Power Systems Analysis.

Mr. Ball joined Utility Technology in February 2000 as an Engineer-in-Training. His responsibilities have included the design of several Transmission-Distribution substations ranging from 115kV to 500kV, and participation in the design of their associated protection and control schemes. Mr. Ball has also designed several low voltage distribution systems providing service to industrial facilities.
