EXPERIENCE |
Mr. Kunz began work at Carolina Power & Light Co. from
January 1984 to December 1996. During that time he was
promoted from Associate to Project Engineer. His work included
distribution facility planning, system improvement
construction projects, and engineering circuit analysis. He
also provided engineering support for Industrial Substation,
Telecommunications and Metering personnel and Customer Quality
of Service Issues.
The distribution facility planning involved 90
Transmission-Distribution Substations. System improvement
construction projects involved design for distribution
feeders, industrial substations, underground subdivisions, and
street/area lighting. Circuit analysis projects involved power
quality issues, protective coordination, and economic
utilization of distribution circuits.
Mr. Kunz joined Utility Technology as an Engineer in
December 1996. At UTEC his major responsibilities have
included Transmission Substation Design and Protective
Relaying, Distribution Facility Construction, and Protective
Coordination Studies. This work has included specifying
equipment, evaluating bids, designing transmission substations
to serve generation plants and distribution feeders,
implementing and designing protective relay systems,
installing distribution facilities to serve industrial
customers, relocating distribution facilities for highway
construction, installing and designing lighting systems for
municipalities to meet current NC DOT standards, and analyzing
distribution and transmission circuits for protective
coordination needs. The transmission substation generation
projects that he has worked on have connected over 1,100 MW of
generation onto the transmission network. |
