Orangeburg Substation 4
|
UTEC performed the design for a conversion and expansion of Orangeburg's Substation 18 from 44 kV service to 115 kV service. The new substation was to include 115 kV breakers, 115 kV circuit switcher, 115 kV/8.32 kV transformer, and 25 kV feeder bay structure. The design work included detailed site plans, structure design, substation calculations, transmission line modifications, and relay settings.
We also prepared specification and bid documents for all major equipment and material as well as construction specifications. Prior to construction beginning, the project was stopped. Orangeburg DPU then requested UTEC to determine if it was feasible to use the materials and equipment to upgrade nearby Substation 4. UTEC prepared several preliminary design options and cost opinions using minimal additional materials. Once a design was chosen, UTEC prepared new detailed design drawings, verified new transmission loadings, performed new calculations and ordered additional equipment. UTEC performed construction services including on site supervision, weekly status calls, materials updates and handling construction questions. UTEC provided commissioning services, supervised transmission relay testing, and prepared record drawings after the construction was complete. |
